The initial consultation will generally be comprised of 4 parts:

  1. Discussion
  2. Assessment
  3. Treatment
  4. Advice/referral

During the initial consultation the practitioner will ask questions about your current pain or issue as well as on current lifestyle. After the practitioner has gotten to know you better they will decide whether you are suitable to treat and how best to treat you. The assessment will involve many different movements and muscle testing to help us diagnose the primary problem. The best type of clothing to wear to carry out these assessments is usually shorts and for the ladies a sports bra/singlet.

Depending on your diagnosis and how you respond to treatment, we will either be able to give you a tailored treatment plan or, if necessary, referral to the correct specialist or for imaging.

The tailored treatment plan will depend on the individual, patient history and their response to the initial treatment. Along with advice exercise prescription, treatment will involve one or more of these modalities:

  • Soft tissue therapy
  • Joint manipulation/mobilisation
  • Dry Needling
  • Fascial releases
  • Stretching & Exercise rehabilitation.
  • Taping
On-going consultations will be shortened versions of the initial consultation, with reassessments and treatment changes throughout to make sure you’re staying on track.

Chiropractic: Ian Pau

Ian is a graduate from the Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University and completed his undergraduate studies in anatomy and physiology at the University of New South Wales. He is now furthering studies with a Masters of Sports Science in chiropractic.
Enjoying an active childhood, Ian has experienced the health benefits from an extensive and successful youth sporting career, however, like many others has suffered a fair share of varying injuries, most of which have been successfully treated and managed by a chiropractor. Through personally experiencing the positive effects of chiropractic on sporting injuries and the health improvements that accompanied the treatments, he has been inspired to pursue a career in the profession to help both children and adults enjoy and continue an active and well balanced lifestyle.
Ian believes that with the combination of good scientific knowledge and a diverse range of manual adjustment and soft tissue techniques he is well equipped to meet the challenges of each patient.

Chiropractic: Luke White

Luke graduated from Macquarie University with a bachelor and masters degree in chiropractic, where he was exposed to a variety of populations including sporting, elderly and the everyday injury. He worked exclusively with the Macquarie AFL team, triathlon events, as well as at the Herald Sun City2Surf.
He has been under chiropractic care since a young age but really saw the benefits of treatment through a number sporting injuries (shoulder, chest, lower back) and also through improved performance. This helped him understand the importance of preventative health and ignite his passion for improving people’s quality of life.
Luke understands that chiropractic treatment and care does not stop at treating where the pain is, but encompasses finding the dysfunctions throughout the body, activity modification, as well as strengthening and mobility work to prevent recurrence and chronicity of symptoms.
Luke has always enjoyed being active, with particular interest in basketball, bodybuilding, swimming, water polo, whilst representing the latter two at local and state level. He knows the importance of working together with patients to achieve their goals both in and out of clinic, through optimal treatment, enthusiasm and patient centred care.
Through an array of techniques including soft-tissue (myofascial release, trigger point therapy), manual manipulation, drop piece technique, both kinesio and rigid taping, exercise prescription and dietary advice, he is looking forward to working with you to achieve your goals, whatever they may be.
